Privacy Policy
Catch a Rainbow is a weather based app that helps users estimate when rainbow conditions may be possible and explore rainbow sightings. This policy explains what information may be used, why it is used, and how users can contact us.
Location information
Catch a Rainbow uses location to provide accurate local weather based rainbow predictions, estimate sun and weather conditions near the user, and help make rainbow alerts relevant. Because rainbow opportunities can be brief, location may be used in connection with optional notifications when conditions may be possible nearby.
When users upload rainbow photos, location information may be used so the photo can appear on the map. Public map locations are adjusted or obscured to show only a general rainbow sighting area and help protect exact user location.
Photos and user content
If photo upload features are enabled, users may choose to share rainbow photos and optional captions. Uploaded photos may include image data, GPS related information, upload time, visibility setting, and a content hash used to help prevent duplicate uploads.
Accounts and sign in
Some features, such as uploading or deleting a photo, may require an account. Catch a Rainbow may support email sign in, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign In, and Facebook Login. Account information may include an email address, display name, user identifier, and authentication provider information needed to manage the account.
Favorites, flags, and gallery features
Users may favorite photos, view uploaded photos, and flag photos for review. The app may store information needed to connect these actions to the relevant photo or account.
Notifications
If users allow notifications, Catch a Rainbow may send alerts when rainbow conditions may be possible. The app may use a device identifier, push notification token, platform information, timestamps, and recent location information so notifications can be delivered and kept relevant. Users can turn notifications off in device settings at any time.
Third party services
Catch a Rainbow may use third party services for app functionality, including Firebase for authentication, database storage, cloud storage, and push notifications; WeatherKit, Tomorrow.io, Open-Meteo, AirNow, and Google Elevation for weather, air quality, elevation, and environmental data; and SightEngine or cloud moderation tools to help filter inappropriate uploaded content.
Advertising
Catch a Rainbow does not currently show ads. Advertising supported features may be added in the future. If ads are added, this privacy policy and App Store privacy information will be updated before those features are released.
Tracking
Catch a Rainbow does not use collected information for advertising tracking across apps and websites at this time.
Managing uploaded content
Users can delete their own uploaded photos in the app. Users can also make uploaded photos private if they prefer not to show them publicly. For help with account related information or an app issue, users may contact rainbowcatcherapp@gmail.com.
Children and safety
Catch a Rainbow is intended to provide a positive weather and nature experience. Safeguards have been added to help keep the app safe, including moderation tools, flagging, privacy conscious map locations, photo visibility options, and removal tools for uploaded content.
